Drums Alive License Expiration

Drums Alive License Expiration

Here at Drums Alive, we are looking to simply our license expiration and renewal process.

How your expiration date is determined

Moving forward all licenses purchased from the 1st-3rd of the month will have a license expiration one year from the start of the month of purchase. Any licenses purchased from the 4th through the remainder of the month with have expirations that fall to the beginning of the following month. For example, if you complete a training or purchase a curriculum on March 1st, 2nd or 3rd,2020, your new expiration date will be March 1st, 2021. If you complete a training or purchase a curriculum on March 4th – 31st, 2020, your new expiration date will be April 1st,2021.

How will my expiration date be determined if I have not renewed my license yet?

In the past, we have kept all Drums Alive licenses active indefinitely, because we felt that we did not have a resource that constantly brought new information and was financially feasible to ask our instructors to purchase every year.

Now we do.

With our new membership, we will begin enforcing all expiration dates. If you previously completed a training or purchased a curriculum and you have not completed an additional training or purchased additional curriculums to keep your license active then your new expiration date is July 1st, 2020. If you do not join our membership, complete an additional training or purchase an additional curriculum then you will lose access to any online materials on that date and you will no longer be listed as a licensed Drums Alive instructor.

How will my expiration date be determined if my license is currently active?

If you have kept your Drums Alive license active by taking our trainings, purchasing additional curriculum and/or joining our membership then your expiration date will be determined by moving your current expiration date according to the principals of the first section: How your expiration date is determined.

For example, if your current expiration date falls on July 12th, 2021, then your new expiration date will be August 1st, 2021. If your current expiration date falls on February 28th, 2021, then your new expiration date will be March 1st, 2021. If however, your current expiration date falls on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd  of the month, for example, July 2nd , 2021, then your new expiration date will move to the first of the month, in this case July 1st, 2021.

How will my expiration date be determined if I have not taken a training yet?

Please see the first section, “How your expiration date is determined”

What happens if my license expires and I want to renew?

If your license expires and you would like to renew then you will be required to pay a penalty based on the number of months your license has lapsed. If it is within 3 months of your license expiration then you will have to pay a flat rate penalty of $80. If it is within 6 months of your license expiration then you will have to pay a flat rate penalty of $120.

If your license is more than 6 months expired. You will need to take a new training or purchase a qualifying curriculum kit to become recertified.

What can I do to extend my license?

When you take a Drums Alive training or purchase a DRUMTASTIC curriculum, you receive one year of license automatically.

There are three ways that you can extend your license from its expiration date.

You can join our Drums Alive membership. If you pay the yearly fee, you will have a year added on to your expiration. If you pay month to month, then your license will be extended by one month for every month you remain a member.

You can take an additional training. For any Drums Alive live or online training that you take we will add a year to your license expiration date.

You can purchase an additional DRUMTASTIC full or mini curriculum kits. For any full or mini curriculum kit you purchase, we will add a year to your license expiration date. PLEASE NOTE. Purchasing a DRUMTASTIC starter kit will not count toward your license.

What if I do all of the above in one year?

If you take multiple trainings, join our membership and purchase multiple kits in one year, then all of those will go toward your license date. Your expiration date will be set based on the first training or DRUMTASTIC kit you purchase.

For example, if you complete the Drums Alive Basic training on May 17th, 2020, your expiration date will be June 1st, 2021. If you then complete a Golden Beats training on September 2nd, your expiration will be extended to June 1st, 2022. If you then join the membership on October 14th, your license will be extended to June 1st, 2023. And if you purchase a DRUMTASTIC mini kit on February 1st, 2021, then your license will be extended to June 1st, 2024.

In this example, since you purchased 4 Drums Alive qualifying products, your expiration date was extended by 4 years.

How often can I sign up for the membership?

To make it easier to keep your license active. We will now be opening the membership registration up at the start of each month from the 1st-3rd.

If your license has expired and you are joining the membership. Your new license expiration will be one year from the 1st of the month that you joined the membership.

For example, if your license has expired and you sign up for our membership on April 1st, 2nd or 3rd of 2020, then your new expiration date is April 1st of 2021.

What happens if I don’t renew my license?

If you do not renew your license Drums Alive will remove any online materials that you have, you will not be listed as an active and licensed Drums Alive instructor, and you will be asked to stop teaching Drums Alive classes.

Why are we required to keep our license?

Drums Alive is constantly changing and evolving. As we conduct new research and learn of new results we adjust our programs so that all of our instructors have the most up-to-date information. We want to ensure everyone continues to learn the updates instead of taking a course, saying “okay, I’ve got it” and never touching the material. Almost all of our instructors are either fitness instructors or teachers and you all understand the importance and need to stay up to date on new ideas and research. But since we know you all are paying dues and fees to other programs to stay active with them, we wanted to ensure we provided methods to keep your license active were truly helpful and reasonably priced.
