The Drums Alive Basic + DRUMTASTIC Training will introduce the foundational components of evidence-based research for practice and outcomes of Drums Alive as an intervention.  This intervention utilizes the engaging rhythms of music coupled with the physical activities of drumming and movement to promote mind/body connection and whole body engagement simultaneously. Participants will learn how to utilize Drums Alive as an intervention designed to meet the cognitive, emotional, social and physical needs of individuals served via music, rhythm and movement. Participants will also learn how to utilize the DRUMTASTIC curriculum to teach particular skills to various populations and discuss and experience interventions designed for particular age/ability groups. These lesson plan designs can be modified for utilization in Recreational Therapy practice for any client population and can also be implemented in community wellness programs.

Golden Beats is a specialized Drums Alive® program designed specifically for active aging, senior wellness, and older adult populations. Participants who complete the Basic Instructor Training may continue on to Golden Beats and learn how to use rhythm, movement, music, and drumming activities to support cognitive wellness, physical activity, social engagement, and quality of life.

This 7-hour course is immersive and concentrates training on the needs of and interventions for older adults.  Golden Beats training will focus on improving the overall health and wellness of older participants through targeted music and movement activities. This training will also present Golden Beats Drums Alive games, activities and choreographies targeted to meet the assessed needs of older adults. Recreational Therapists can use these unique interventions to facilitate functional improvements with participants.

Attend one or both days! Day 1 is a standalone training and serves as a prerequisite for Day 2.

Participants may register for Day 1 only, or for both days as a complete two-day experience.

DAY 2: Golden Beats Sunday, November 8, 2026 | 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM ET

Prerequisite: Drums Alive® Basic Instructor Certification required. Participants who completed Day 1 are automatically eligible. Those who hold an existing Basic Instructor Certification are also welcome to register for Day 2 only.
