Dean Owens

Dean earned a Master’s Degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) in 1995 and currently serves on the ERAU faculty, teaching 9 different disciplines ranging from Human Factors to Crew Resource Management.  He taught aerobic dance at Brigham Young University (BYU) and was featured on the fitness and education show, “Hooked on Aerobics.” He was also a member of the BYU Folk Dance team which performed internationally, and he also performed with Donny and Marie Osmond and the Osmond Brothers as part of their “Glory of America,” tour.  Dean is currently a pilot for United Airlines and assigned to fly to multiple domestic and international airports; but, he is most proud to have served in the United States Air Force as an instructor and evaluator pilot for 30 years, where he deployed 9 times to many of the most hostile locations in the world.  From his teaching, life and military experiences, Dean understands the need for fitness, education and wellness in order to maintain a level of resiliency to cope with life challenges and establish a happy and healthy lifestyle. He has been a percussionist for over 40 years and joined the DRUMS ALIVE team as a Master Trainer because he believes in the healing benefits of drumming and its significant contribution to overall Brain and Body Health.  Dean’s goal is simple: to help others recognize their potential and how to adopt a “can do” attitude.
