13. How long is the Drums Alive® Certificate of Completion valid?
Starting on January 1, 2015, a Drums Alive® certificate of completion is valid for one year. Those who obtained their certificate of completion before January 1, 2015, will be “grandfathered” in until June 2016.  As with any reputable occupation, a professional is expected to keep up-to-date on industry knowledge and skills.  Drums Alive® wants and expects their instructors to keep up to date on the Drums Alive® programs because it is research-based and the program evolves and improves as we continue with on-going research.  Drums Alive® wants its instructors to have the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and effectively service their students and customers.  To help instructors attain and maintain this status, Drums Alive  will provide opportunities (including home-study courses) for continuing education.  We will be evaluating a monthly membership program that will soon be launched in Europe by our sister company, Drums Alive EU.  Our goal is to offer a membership that offers true value in supporting our instructors’ efforts in growing and sustaining their Drums Alive® classes.

14. How do I renew my Drums Alive® Certificate of Completion?
There are several ways to keep your Drums Alive® Certificate of Completion (your license to teach) active and up to date:

  1.  Attend another Drums Alive® Live Instructor Training.  If you re-take a Drums Alive® Live Instructor Training that you previously attended, before your 12-month expiration period we will allow you a $50.00 discount from the registration fee (contact us at info@drums-alive for details).   Upon completion of the Drums Alive® Instructor Training, you will receive a certificate that will extend your license to teach Drums Alive® classes.
  2. Sign up for at least a one-year subscription to the Drums Alive® Instructor Series before your 12-month expiration period.   Each quarterly release of the Drums Alive® – Power Beats Instructor Series has a DVD and CD that provide instructors with new choreography and instructional tips and guidelines for each component of their Drums Alive® – Power Beats workout: Warm up, Cultural Drumming, Cardiovascular Workout, High-intensity Training, Wellness Drumming and a Cool Down / Stretch. Drums Alive® – Power Beats Instructor Series is designed as a resource for professional fitness instructors.  You will receive a certificate that will extend your license to teach Drums Alive® classes for another year after you receive the 4th quarterly release.  Please note, there is a total of 11 releases in the subscription series, so you can use this option for up to two years.  You will receive a certificate that will extend your license to teach Drums Alive® classes after you receive the 4th and the 8th quarterly releases.
  3. Successfully complete the Drums Alive® Basic on-line home study course. We will be launching home study courses for the Drums Alive® Basic, Kids Beats™, and Golden Beats™ programs by the end of 2015.  After successful completion of the home study course, you will receive a certificate that will extend your license to teach Drums Alive® classes.  Please note, you must have successfully completed a Drums Alive® Basic training (a live training or the home study course) to register for the home study Kids Beats™ or Golden Beats™ courses.  If you re-take a Drums Alive® on-line home study course that you previously completed, before your 12-month expiration period we will allow you a $50.00 discount from the registration fee (contact us at info@drums-alive for details).
  4. As mentioned in the question above, we will be evaluating a monthly membership program that will soon be launched in Europe by our sister company, Drums Alive EU.  Our goal is to offer a membership that offers true value in supporting our instructors’ efforts in growing and sustaining their Drums Alive® classes by the end of 2015. Licensed Drums Alive® instructors will be eligible to join this low-cost monthly membership that allows access to choreography, class activities for different age groups, proven ideas to grow your business as a Drums Alive® licensed instructor, and much more.

15. What happens after I successfully complete the Drums Alive® Instructor training?  When can I start teaching Drums Alive® classes?
After successfully completing the Instructor Training, you can begin teaching whenever you feel you are ready. 3. You can place your training fees on hold and use them toward a future training within one year of your original registration date.
