If your facility does not have stability balls, ball stands or buckets, and drumsticks, Drums Alive can ship in the equipment and we will add a rental fee ($19.00 for USA, $29.50 for Canada) to the per person registration fee.  The stability ball, ball stand, and drumsticks are made available for purchase as a set for $50.00 after the training.  Place a check mark in the box if you would like to rent the equipment for the training.

Start and end times for Drums Alive® training - The Drums Alive® Basic Instructor and the Drums Alive® Golden Beats trainings normally start at 9:00 am and end at 6:00 pm, but we are willing to adjust the start and end times.  The Drums Alive® DRUMTASTIC trainings can vary from a single day 6-hour event to multiple days that span from 3 to 6 hours per day. We will work with you to arrange a schedule that best supports your needs.

This agreement is between the (Host Site listed above at the address listed above) and Drums Alive, Inc. for the following Drums Alive® workshop(s) – see Appendix A for course descriptions:

8-hour Drums Alive® Basic Instructor Training (for qualified persons interested in fitness and wellness):
8-hour Drums Alive® DRUMTASTIC Ability Beats Training.
8 hour Drums Alive® Golden Beats Instructor Training. Note: registrants must have successfully completed the Drums Alive® Basic Instructor Training (through either a live or on-line training):
One-day 6 hour Drums Alive® DRUMTASTIC Instructor Training (for school teachers):

Drums Alive, Inc. Responsibilities:

1. Drums Alive® will provide a Master Trainer to instruct the Drums Alive® Instructor Training workshop(s) and all the necessary training materials (manuals, DVDs, CDs, certificates).

2. Drums Alive® will provide the Host Site with an electronic copy of the promotional flyer to reproduce, distribute and display for advertising and promoting the event.

3. Drums Alive® will advertise the event through the Drums Alive® website, social media, email, direct mail or any other media ads scheduled.

4. Drums Alive® will handle all registrations and fee collections for the event unless otherwise negotiated.

5. Drums Alive® will allow a group discount if two (3) or more attendees from the same group/organization register for the same Drums Alive® Instructor Training. Send an email to info@drums-alive listing each registrant's name and email address and provide the name, email address, and billing address (do NOT list credit or debit card information) of the person or persons or organization that is responsible for payment.  Drums Alive will send an invoice to the person(s) responsible for payment.  Payment must be received two weeks (14 calendar days) BEFORE the training event. If your organization prefers to pay by purchase order, check, or cash, please email info@drums-alive.com to make the necessary arrangements.

6. Drums Alive® reserves the right to cancel any Instructor Training up to fourteen (14) days from the training date due to extenuating circumstances that may arise or if there is a lack of interest/registrants. Minimum Attendance Requirement—two weeks prior to the scheduled training date, there must be a minimum of 15 registrants for the training to take place. Any exceptions must be approved by Karen Watanabe-Sakamoto (email: karenwatanabe@drums-alive.com).

7. Drums Alive® reserves the right to cancel any Instructor Training due to unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather or other emergency situations beyond our control. If we cancel the training under these circumstances, we will issue you a full refund. For more information please visit our FAQ page, https://www.drums-alive.com/faq.


Host Site Responsibilities:

1. Host Site will allow ample time for scheduling and registration—Instructor Training workshops are scheduled at least 8 weeks in advance, 10 or more weeks is preferable.

2. Host Site will be responsible for creating and maintaining a safe learning environment.

3. Host Site will provide a key contact person who will work with Drums Alive® through the processes necessary to make the training workshop a success for your organization and Drums Alive.

4. Host Site understands and agrees that there is a Minimum Attendance Requirement. Drums Alive® requires a minimum of 15 participants per workshop, to be registered and paid two (2) weeks prior to the event date. Any exceptions must be approved by Karen Watanabe-Sakamoto (email: karen@drums-alive.com). Host Site understands that if the minimum attendance requirement is not met, Drums Alive has the option to cancel or postpone the workshop or request travel fee compensation in order for the workshop to take place.

5. Host Site will make the facility available before and after the training and will provide two helpers to help with set up and break down. Either the night before or the morning of (usually from around 7:00am-9:00am) the instructor training, Host Site will make the facility available for set up and provide at least one (1) helper (usually the person with the complimentary registration) to assist with set up and registration, and at least one (1) helper after the training (usually from around 6:00pm-7:00pm) to help with break down.

6. Host Site will allow adequate space and time to inflate stability balls prior to the event if needed.

7. Host Site will provide tables for registration—The Drums Alive® Master Trainer will need 1-2 tables to be set up either the evening before or the morning of the instructor training for registration and other needs.

8. Host Site will provide adequate space exclusively for the training(s).

9. Host Site will be responsible for the class roster or sign-in form by all registered participants who physically attend training(s), confirm their email address and collect their signature.

10. Host Site will provide the audio and video equipment needed to conduct a workshop, which includes a good sound system with an MP3 input and wireless headset microphone.

11. Host Site will promote the Drums Alive® Instructor Training(s) in the local community to increase registrations. Host Site will help promote this event by reproducing the promotional flyer provided by Drums Alive and distributing copies to their employees, area instructors, area educators and other interested parties such as other area gyms, sports and health clubs, child or adult day care facilities, schools, etc.

12. Host Site agrees to receive calls from participants for directions to the facility. Host Site agrees to refer all registrations and other questions regarding Drums Alive® courses to Drums Alive® at (808) 271-4110 or hello@drums-alive.com.

13. Host Site agrees that a participant must be 18 years or older to attend any Drums Alive® Instructor Training. Anyone younger than 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult, have a letter from their parent, and both the parent and the child must sign the liability waiver form at the Instructor Training. Please contact Drums Alive at hello@drums-alive.com so that we can help you make the necessary arrangements.

14. Host Site agrees that Video or DVD motion pictures are NOT allowed.  However, still image cameras are allowed. 


Host Site “perks”:

1. Host Site will receive one (1) complimentary (free) Drums Alive® Instructor Training registration when the event takes place and if the minimum number attendance requirement has been met. This is non-transferable and voided if the event is canceled.

2. Host Site will receive free advertising on the Drums Alive® website, Facebook page and a flyer to mail/distribute to other known interested parties within the local community.

3. Host Site pays no Drums Alive® monthly licensing fees—There is no monthly fee for a facility to use the Drums Alive® name, provided the instructors who teach at the facility were trained by Drums Alive. A facility is not allowed to use the Drums Alive® name if Drums Alive did not officially train the instructor(s).

Appendix A: Drums Alive® Course Descriptions

Drums Alive® Basic Instructor Training workshop is a one day (8-hour) training designed to provide the instructor with a basic knowledge and practical application of the Drums Alive® program.  Participants will learn the theory and application of this fun and effective group exercise program. This training will explore sound and movement therapy through drumming and music. Learn the loco-motor skills to drum your way to a distinctive and unforgettable class design!  The workshop will include:

· Introduction to Drums Alive®

· Medical and physiological effects of drumming

· Benefits of Drumming

· Basic Loco-motor Movement / Combined skills

· Basic Drumming Skills / Choreography and Practical Application

· Power Beats

· Wellness Beats

· Rhythm and Drumming  Application

· Group Dynamics / Practical Experience / Class Design

Participants will receive a manual, DVD and certificate upon completion.  CEU’s for ACE are available.

Drums Alive® Golden Beats stimulates people whether they are young or old, healthy or ill. When we drum and dance we are having FUN! This in return releases endorphins and releases negative feelings. The rhythmical patterns of the drum increase synchronization of brain wave activity which in turn provides feelings of euphoria and improved mental awareness and self-acceptance. Golden Beats® is specially designed for the senior population.  This is a one-day (6-hour) workshop.   Please note: attendees must have completed the Drums Alive® Basic Instructor training workshop to enroll in this training workshop.

Objectives:

  • Provide the participants exposure to a drumming and movement specifically designed to enhance emotional and cognitive education as well as social competence.
  • Experience how drumming and movement can contribute to satisfaction of one’s individual needs as provide you with a unique, fun, exciting alternative to traditional aerobics for seniors.
  • Learn movements and rhythms with the use of drums & drumsticks that are appropriate for the senior population.

Workshop includes; Drums Alive® Golden Beats Training Manual, DVD +CD, Choreography and Practical Application.  CEU’s for ACE are available.

6-hour, One Day Drums Alive DRUMTASTIC®  Basic Training Workshop

This one-day, 6-hour training for educators and recreation leaders and provides participants with an opportunity to experience and understand the “WHATs” and “HOWs” of the Drums Alive DRUMTASTIC® program—what it is, what it feels like, AND how to teach the Drums Alive® program to their students. The Drums Alive DRUMTASTIC® Curriculum is introduced and participants actively participate in a sampling of lesson plans. They’ll experience how fun and easy it is to teach the evidence-based Drums Alive® program while addressing National Standards for Physical  Education (NASPE).  Participants learn how to navigate through the comprehensive Drums Alive DRUMTASTIC® curriculum program.  The program was designed to make it easy to quickly and confidently implement and sustain the Drums Alive program in classrooms, gyms, and recreation centers.  Participants are guided through the abundance of resources provided in the curriculum kit and gain a better understanding of its organizational structure.  In this fun-filled and informative training, participants learn how to use movements that inspire children and prompt them to create movement and rhythms of their own.  Music, balls, and drumsticks create curiosity in children (and adults too!), promote attention, and achieve a high level of motivation.

Please note—we require anyone attending this training to have access to a Drums Alive DRUMTASTIC®  Curriculum Kit and we recommend they bring their kit with them to the training.  (Optimally, prior to the training, each school should own at least one kit that’s shared between staff members.)  The training is far more effective if each participant can see/touch/feel the DRUMTASTIC® curriculum and its abundance of resources and use it  during the training.  Samples of the Drums Alive printed DRUMTASTIC® lesson plans and Drums Alive logo drumsticks are  provided to  each participant.

The 6-hour Drums Alive DRUMTASTIC® Basic training workshop is ideal for a school or school district’s Professional Development activity.

12-hour, Two-Day (6 hours per day) Drums Alive DRUMTASTIC®  Cross-Curriculum Workshop 

This two-day, 12-hour training (6-hours per day) for educators and recreation leaders provides participants with an opportunity to experience and understand the “WHATs” and “HOWs” of the Drums Alive DRUMTASTIC® CROSS CURRICULUM program—what it is and what it feels like, how to teach the Drums Alive program to their students, AND how to collaborate with mathematics classroom teachers. This training includes all that’s covered in the DRUMTASTIC Basic 6-hour training training plus participants learn how to make the Drums Alive DRUMTASTIC® a truly cross-curricular program by enhancing and reinforcing students’ learning and comprehension of math and other core subject areas. The Drums Alive DRUMTASTIC® Mathematics In Motion program provides a brain and body workout that expands mental powers to increase brain functioning. Bursts of high intensity drumming and movement interspersed with periods of recovery cognition (mental math) exercises, create an interval training experience that is fun and engaging for all ages. Discovery lessons that utilize the Drums Alive equipment and the student’s whole mind and body improve comprehension of abstract concepts. This practical, applied hands-on course focuses on using music, rhythm, fun, and interesting activities to teach students about their world, themselves, and how the two interact.

The 2-day, 6-hours per day Drums Alive DRUMTASTIC® Cross-Curriculum workshop is designed for a school(s) or school district(s) that want to maximize the effectiveness of the Drums Alive DRUMTASTIC®  curriculum by implementing the program into PE, music, and math classrooms.  With today’s increased emphasis on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) and decreased budgets on music and PE, compounded with the childhood obesity epidemic, the Drums Alive DRUMTASTIC®  program is a fun and effective way to help teachers and administrators enhance their students’ learning of abstract concepts in math while improving physical, social, and cognitive health.

8-hour, 1-Day DRUMTASTIC® Ability Beats™  This is a one-day, 8-hour workshop – The foundation, the theory, and the research behind the Ability Beats™ program are presented together with the basic movements and teaching concepts needed to successfully implement and integrate the Drums Alive® program into the classroom or other learning, recreational, or therapeutic environments.  This program teaches you how to use and adapt movements that inspire children and adults with diverse abilities and prompt them to create movement and rhythms of their own. Music, balls, and drumsticks create curiosity, promote attention and achieve a high level of motivation.

DRUMS ALIVE® DRUMTASTIC ABILITY BEATS is an all-inclusive, comprehensive, multi-generational, brain and body program for all diverse abilities that unlocks limitations and empowers participants to achieve healthy and happy lives through research-based fitness and wellness applications.  This one of a kind, culturally diverse, program fosters individual creativity in a fun and enriched environment that turns the impossible to I’M POSSIBLE by coordinating kinesthetic awareness, neuro-muscular skills, cardiovascular conditioning, flexibility, strength, health and wellness activities into an inspiring experience that accommodates physiological, emotional and cognitive needs; and, taps individual “ABILITIES” leading to endless possibilities.
